The Happdrætti Háskóla Íslands (The University of Iceland Lottery), an unassuming building I spotted while vacationing in Iceland on my layover to Copenhagen. It’s what you do when you are a designer abroad, you take in your new environment, look around, and find as many amazing logos or torn posters as you can! But when I saw that tri-shaped, wing-like, symmetry of a mark, rotating elegantly around a perfect circle I knew I struck gold. And I did! All around Iceland there are beautifully designed marks, simple and bold, reminiscent of a Lance Wyman era. Those Icelanders know design, not that I wasn’t aware already with the likes of Siggi Eggertsson.
I’ve always tried to look to European design to broaden my view on design, and Iceland didn’t dissapoint.
